However, we work for the total average of the cycle not to exceed the 6 (six) months.

The manuscript submission is continuously available (reception does not get suspended in any period for any reason)

Manuscripts previously deposited in a reliable preprint server are accepted.

C. Authors

Those who have participated directly in the research or in the preparation of the manuscript are recognized as authors and can be held responsible of its content. The inclusion of other people as authors, due to friendship, acknowledgement, or other links constitutes an ethical misconduct.

F. Article structure

Original articles should have the following structure: title, abstract, introduction, material and method, results, discussion, conclusions, and bibliographic references. Other types of articles might have other structure and their approval is subject to the criteria of the editorial committee.

1. Title

It must be written in Spanish and English. It should not contain acronyms, and must be very precise and descriptive. The title should not exceed 15 words.

2. Abstract

It should be written in Spanish and English. It must have an introduction, objective, method, results, and conclusion (structured).

Immediately after the abstract, authors should consider three to six keywords. The use of DeCS is recommended (Health Science Descriptors) for most of the keywords of the article.

3. Introduction

It states the topic and objective of the research, as well as the hypothesis or what is sought to demonstrate or evidence.

4. Material and methods

This section describes in detail the object or subject of the study and their characteristics. Here, the methods, procedures, techniques, instruments, or tools used in the research are described. This should be precise in order to evidence, in the case of some disciplines, the possibility of replicating the process.

If the methods are known and commonly used, they can be only mentioned; however, if not or if they were modified, they should be explained. Similarly, in this section, the limitations should be mentioned. If the study involved human or animal experimentation, authors should state if the procedures respected the Helsinki Declaration. All the studies conducted in human beings should have the approval of an institutional committee or an ethics committee of the setting where the research was carried out or of the institution that undertook it. The Revista de Investigación de la Universidad Norbert Wiener will consider the non-compliance of this point to be an immediate cause of manuscript rejection. The approval letter or the number assigned to the approval of the study is requested.

5. Results

This section shows the findings in a logical and comprehensible sequence, according to the tables, figures, etc.

6. Discussion

The authors contrast their findings with other studies’ results about the same aspects or with respect to the state of the art.

7. Conclusions

This section sums up the phrases whose support was already evidenced in the previous segments and are presented as a corollary.

8. Bibliographic references

They should be written according to the Vancouver guidelines, in the case of biomedical sciences; or according to APA (American Psychological Association), for behavioral sciences. There is a variety of versions of these standards or style guidelines.

9. Tables, figures, and others

These should be original or, if not, they should indicate the original source, book or article in which it was published originally, with all the pertinent data. They should be submitted in original format without importing them to Word. The figures must be in TIFF, PNG o JPEG format (in this order of preference), with 300 pixels as a minimum resolution.

Figures, tables, graphs, pictures and maps should be numbered independently, using Arabic numbers and capital letters (for example, Table 1, Figure 4), in addition to the title or legend in lowercase and bold letters.

Additionally:

1) The opinion of the ethics committee recognized by the Health Authority or National Health Council (or similar body) of each country shall be submitted for human and animal experimentation studies.

2) Clinical trials must be registered in the WHO’s International Clinical Trials Registry Platform Data Providers, ReBEC (Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials) or others similar when the trial has been approved by the national ethics committee and prior to the selection of patients for research. The name of the database, acronym and/or number of the clinical trial should appear at the end of the article’s abstract.

3) Systematic reviews must be registered in the PROSPERO database (International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews), preferably before the eligibility criteria application procedures are initiated, and the registration number should be added at the end of the article abstract and in the material and method section.

4) Biological reference material and DNA sequences should be recorded in registered and publicly accessible collections as a condition for acceptance of manuscripts.

5) According to the type of study, standards and international guidelines should be used for the presentation of the research results, according to the recommendations of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the EQUATOR network (Enhancing the Quality and Transparency of Health Research):

  • Randomized controlled clinical triasl: CONSORT
  • Observational studies: STROBE
  • Diagnostic/prognostic studies: STARD or TRIPOD
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses: PRISMA or MOOSE
  • Study protocols: SPIRIT or PRISMA-P
  • Case reports: CARE
  • Protocols/guidelines of clinical practices: AGREE o RIGHT
  • Qualitative studies: COREQ (checklist) or SRQR
  • Pre-clinical animal research: ARRIVE
  • Studies on quality improvement: SQUIRE
  • Economic evaluations: CHEERS
